Friday 2/26/10 was the night of the much anticipated Winter Ball. This year, the Ball was held at the prestigous Jefferson Hotel and tickets were hard to come by. At the behest of Heather, I got up early on the morning of the day of ticket sales and logged on to the website right as they went on sale and nabbed my tickets. About 20 minutes later one of my buddies texted me and said he couldn't get tickets. So yeah, it was a "hot ticket."

Now, you might be surprised to hear this, but even though I'm not likely to try out for America's Best Dance Crew or anything like that I was ready to dance. I walked over to Heather and said let's go Dance, for probably the third or fourth time, and she said, let me just finish my roll, which she had said for probably the third or fourth time. So I watched, and I was bored. I went and played Roulette, asked to dance again, was told the same, watched, and was bored.
The day of the Ball finally came and, after I had dinner with a few of the Young Men from our church for a different activity, I rushed home and Heather and I got in our dancing digs and headed out the door, about 30 minutes late, but still fashionable. We pulled up in front of the Jefferson and handed our keys to the valet and, after walking through the heated porch, walked in to see Mr. Jefferson staring down at us serenely from his marble podium. We checked in, checked our coats and met up with some friends, and Heather had some of the delicious dinner fare.
After some chit-chat, we decided we wanted to check things out, and decided to head to the "Casino Room" where there was play money and play gambling afoot. Heather wanted to try Craps with some of the girls, so I went and played some Hold 'em Poker at another table. I had fun, but I got a little bored, Heather continued to play craps, so I went and played Roulette for a while. Heather was still playing Craps, and several friends were asking me where she was, and how long she had been over there. I smiled and laughed and told them she was enjoying her Craps.

Afterwards, we danced, for about an hour, and left a little after midnight so that Heather could come home and sleep before a big run. I just thought it was funny that we spent half the night apart, and less than half the night dancing at the big dance. BUT, we had a really good time, and that's what's important.
