I like the word howdy-hence it will be the name for this post, because there is no common theme for what I will write and mostly it is just me rambling.
Last Sunday we went to a friends house for a superbowl party and I loved it. Why did I love it? Was it because the football game was amazing? Nope. Was it because my team won? Nope. (honestly I don't know who won) Was it because the food was good? Yep. Was it because there was an alternate activity (cookie baking) for the ladies? Yep. One time a few years ago I went to a superbowl party with friends from our ward in Harrisonburg and the guys were watching the game on the HUGE screen downstairs and the girls were watching on the big screen upstairs. We didn't watch the game we just used the Tivo function to rewind and watch all the commercials again. This is how I like to watch football. With a bunch of girls around that I can talk to and something to distract me from actually having to watch the game.
We went to a party on Friday. Rich said it was just a small casual party that a girl in his class was throwing. I changed out of my work clothes into a pair of jeans, a sweater and some canvas flats. I asked Rich if I was dressed okay and he said, "Yeah the girl throwing the party said she was just wearing jeans." So we show up and can hear the incredibly loud music from down the hall. (another couple from his class were on the elevator going to the party too) the door opened and the other guy said "hey its the birthday girl." I turn to Rich to give him the eye. In my expression I was trying to convey this thought. "
A BIRTHDAY! We don't have the present." and the thought, "
I thought you said she was wearing jeans" The birthday girl was wearing a super cute, high fashion dress and 4 inch heals. We walk into the apartment and all the girls are dressed to the nines. With short sexy dresses and heals. The party was actually pretty fun, and I was not ostracized for my complete lack of style. Although, I had one beef with the party, the music was really loud. Nobody was dancing and everybody was yelling to try to have a conversation over the music. I don't get that. Why not just turn the music down so people can chat and still have a voice the next day?
On Saturday afternoon we went to the library so Rich could study. I love going to the library or any book store. I feel so lucky to have so MANY books right there at my finger tips. While I was sitting there reading my eyes became very heavy (shocking, I know) and I laid my head down to go to sleep. I kept fading back into consciousness with Rich laughing. It was weird to me that he would laugh about me sleeping at the library (after all me sleeping at the library was a big part of our courtship). Then I woke up and found that he had colored my fingernails purple with his highlighter (real mature, babe). While we were at the library this AWFUL (I mean eye watering, gagging, make-you-want-to-hold-your-breath) smell wafted over to us. At first I blamed Rich (and he blamed me). Then we realized it was neither of us and we felt bad for the person that was feeling that ill. Then it happened again and it was foul. Then on third time, Rich got mad. He said (louder than he should have), "whoever keeps crackin' off needs to get themselves to the bathroom." After the 7th time the lady finally got up and left (yes we had narrowed it down by the point and knew who did it). Anyway, moral to this story: If your stinky once we all understand, but by the 7th time you are hated.
