finally updating.....A whole boatload of pictures

I really love to blog when I have a story or something I want to say.  Today is not one of those days, but I do have a lot of pictures to put up.  I haven't updated in over a month because...
this is how I feel about my life right now (I found this picture on my cell phone one morning.  Apparently, Rich decided to document my life as a narcoleptic...beautiful!   Right?!)

These really don't go in order.

Charlotte sampling the lovely strawberries that Rich is growing in our garden.

I made banner for "goodbye scraps" AKA goodbye party for a bunch of lovely ladies who were moving away from Richmond.  I was trying to put the word luck on a banner...because pintrest says that is cute.  I pasted it one there 3 times backwards, before I finally got it.  Rich was dying after the second time and took the picture and after the 3rd I really just stared at it not being able to figure it out.

Finally I got it right!

I got to introduce Charlotte to the city of "You've Got Mail" (AKA NYC, the big apple or New York City)
We went with the Delmege's.  Mary and I were roommates in college and in New York we were sisters...or at least that is what numerous people asked us.  Charlotte and Corinne were patting each other's faces and sharing baby food the whole time.

When we get the "World's Worst Parents Award" it will have the picture on the plaque.  This is Charlotte's Times Square experience.   People were definitely glaring at me and I felt super guilty about this.

Central park.

Richard's Booty

Rich said he wanted to buy Charlotte a toy from FAO Schwartz, but when we walked in and saw the design-your-own-Muppet section he decided  he wanted to get one "for Charlotte."

Naked with shoes is always stylish.
Our cute little neighbor wrote "pretty girl" on the wall.  I pretended it was in honor of me...it was probably for charlotte.  Look how pretty she is!  HAHA..I am such a mom.

Charlotte's new primary mode of transportation!  She's  a walker.
Charlotte is looking sassy with her suit falling off.

Charlotte and I got to meet my new nephew Carter.  I was amazed at how much I love this kid.  He is my first nephew and I am so happy for my sister and brother in law.

I did Ragnar again and this time it was with my family!  It was awesome.

We got fake tatoos...check out the placement of my 14 year-old brother's tat.
My first leg was a beautiful run, so I pulled a "Yes Man" run and took pics of my self while running. On my last leg I hurt my foot a little, but it was still a blast.  I was so proud of my family for running this.  I LOVED cheering them on and laughing until my sides hurt.
My favorite quote:
Garrett: I got passed by this gazelle on the uphill
Jordan: Did she have long blond hair?
Garrett: No, he was wearing a tank top.

Our team name was Holy Schmidt.  Each team decorates their vans and there are some funny vans out there.  We thought we were so hilarious...we might have gone too far.

Van 2 of team Holy Schmidt.  We ran for Lexe.

Happy Father's Day!!

Empathy vs Sympathy

For the last 10 months I have been waking up 1-2 times every night. Charlotte has only slept through the night on a few rare occasions; I can pretty much count the number of times on my hands. Between being up at night with her, waking up early to get the day going, and staying up wasting too much time on paperwork for work/pintrest/Facebook/blogs, I tend to be pretty cranky.  I feel like I am always having to apologize to Rich and explain all the reasons I am tired or why I am always falling asleep on the couch with charts sprawled across my chest.

Rich does try to be understanding.  I will say when she wakes up, she is pretty good about going back to sleep after eating.  But still...

Last Saturday I spent my first night away from Charlotte.  I was feeling sad about being away from my babe, but I was looking forward to Rich getting to experience the up-in-the-middle-of-the-night thing.  Did this happen??  NO!! She slept from 9:30 until 7.  SERIOUSLY!?!?!

In case there is any doubt...

Most of the people who read my blog have no question as to whether I am a geek.   But I am just going to go ahead and set that in stone by admitting a few things.  First, my favorite thing to listen to is NPR.  I listen to NPR when I am driving by myself in the car, when I am on the elliptical at the gym, out on a long run or cooking and cleaning in my kitchen.  LOVE IT! A few times a year they do the annoying fund drives or they are doing a story that I am not interested in or I just need a break. Which leads to my second confession.   At those times my go to is 94.5...which is the pop music station.  I wish I could say that I had a whole bunch of cool indie rock mixed cds that I was in love with or old school jazz music even, but alas I sing along with Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber.  I heard this new song, "That's What Makes You Beautiful. " It had a fun summer-rock sound.  Then the other night Rich and I were watching Saturday Night Live and the "band" One Direction was on.   THEY ARE TOTALLY A BOY BAND!!!  It was so disappointing.
There IS a band that is actually playing in the background and the tune is catchy, but they aren't the ones singing.  These guys are the NEW new kids on the block/n sync/backstreet boys AND they are wearing skinny jeans.  Apparently the hipster look is the new pop. They don't even dance. Not that I really want them to do a choreographed dance, but the whole walking around the stage jumping up and down or playing the air drums is just too ridiculous.  I hate their hair dos, I hate their clothes, I hate their lack of dancing, I hate that they don't play their music, but mostly I just hate that I LOVE this song by a boy band.

Wow...I can't believe how passionately I feel about this (and Rich too...he helped me with this post).  I realize that this is so stupid.  Why should I be bothered by the lack of integrity of my pop music?  But I just can't help it...I am annoyed. (yet still can't get the song out of my head.)

So judge away...geek for listening for NPR while running...geek for writing a diatribe about a boy band...geek for using the word diatribe.

ECK...

Also, our baby was adorable for Easter.  These pictures are for my Grandma .  Grandma, the first pictures are the dress you gave Charlotte and then the other ones are from Easter...and sorry about the rant on boy bands.

VHS

Now that baby girl is more mobile she is pulling everything off of the lower book shelves. The lowest shelves in the back corner of our living room have been holding baskets of movies (and obviously they aren't our favorite movies that are tucked in the back corner of our room).

Anyway, check out what I found back there.

VHS tapes. REALLY?!?! What am I saving these for? We have not owned a working VCR in at least 5 years.

I told Rich that I was going to throw them away and he suggested I save them to give to GoodWill. All of a sudden my mind flashed to the rows and rows of VHS tapes that Goodwill has and I realized NOBODY wants them. How sad it is to be a VHS tape in this day and age! It makes me think of Buzz and Woody and I feel a little guilty that I will be sending these VHS tapes to the grave.

Don't worry I snapped out of it. They are going in the garbage. Unless you know somebody who wants to give them a home. Anybody? ...Buhler? Anybody?
